Wharfedale Pro WLA-210X - dual 10" passive line array element (each)

The WLA-210X is a dual 10" line array element designed for touring and fixed installations. Each enclosure uses two custom Wharfedale Pro 10" low-frequency drivers and a 3.0" titanium-diaphragm neodymium compression driver coupled to a 100° × 10° waveguide. The waveguide exit extends nearly to the top and bottom of the enclosure to create a continuous acoustical source.

An input-panel switch selects Passive (single amplifier, internal crossover) or Bi-amp (separate LF and HF amplifiers). External processing such as the Wharfedale Pro Versadrive or XC series is specified by the manufacturer for system control.

Passive and bi-amp operation

In passive mode the internal crossover divides the signal for each driver. In bi-amp mode, discrete amplifiers power the LF and HF sections. The manufacturer warns that incorrect amplifier selection, wiring or crossover settings can damage the loudspeakers. The matching WLA-210XSUB (sold separately) has no internal crossover and needs external processing.

Construction and rigging

The enclosure is Baltic birch plywood with a field-repairable waterborne polymer finish. Arrays can be assembled from WLA-210X elements only, or with WLA-210XSUB cabinets at the top of the array. The WLA-210X Common Fly frame supports up to 10 × WLA-210X plus 1 × WLA-210XSUB, or up to 12 × WLA-210X, at a safety factor of 12 (certified total weight including third-party hardware: 450 kg). Ground-stacked arrays can be aimed down or up by as much as 10°. Rigging, suspending and mounting must be carried out only by experienced, qualified professionals using Wharfedale Pro fly frames and rated hardware.
