The DS1522+ suits SME file sharing, backup, and virtualisation workloads. Four 1 GbE ports support link aggregation for higher aggregate bandwidth, and an add-on card slot allows 10 GbE or M.2 SSD cache upgrades without chassis replacement. Built-in Synology software covers Surveillance Station, Hyper Backup, Active Backup, and photo/file management via DSM. Drive bays accept 3.5-inch SATA and 2.5-inch SATA/SSD drives.
